Choir Diagnostic Test
Please sing through the following examples as directed, while recording yourself with a smartphone, tablet or computer. Then upload the video to your Google Drive shared choir folder. Rename the file "ChoirDiagnosticTest10.10.13" and be sure it is in the correct folder, so that I can view it.
Other tips:
- Press the play button under each question to hear "DO" play.
- This pitch is played in the upper octave in many cases, so please start on the octave that is most comfortable for you.
- Many of the exercises begin on "DO," however some do not.
1. Sing a scale ascending and descending on "ah."
2. Sing a scale ascending and descending on Solfege syllables.
The following exercises should be sung on Solfege syllables. Before singing, please identify the key of each exercise. This should be sight-singing, so please do not use a piano to practice. All exercises should be sung at a tempo of at least 100 beats per minute. Go to http://www.metronomeonline.com to get the tempo. Please only complete the exercises that you understand. If you do not know how to sing an exercise, you may skip it.
